This is an overkill kit for simple replacement of some Ikea camlock fasteners, but it wasn't expensive and it worked. The parts allowed me to save a loose file drawer in a credenza style cabinet.

If you aren't familiar with these, they are the same cam locks you see on self-assembly furniture. I think they are a great idea because the cam locks the dowel in place preventing any over-tightening. To assemble the dowel is inserted into the open portion of the cam. As a reference, the screw head of the dowel will be facing 90 degrees from the screw head of the cam. Then when the cam is turned, the head of the dowel is locked into place holding the two pieces together (see photo). It's a good way to join corners in furniture or anything that may need to be disassembled and reassembled without damage.

I assemble all type of furniture as my main hobby. Ocassionally, some of the parts break (mainly the eccentric wheels) and I have never seen extra sent in most if not all kits. That's the main reason I ordered these as soon as I saw them (coincidentally I really needed one of those wheels for a night stand I assembled a couple of weeks ago).

Not a common shelf item. But the kit had parts I needed. More than I needed, thats OK.
