1/4" to 1/4" Double Male Threaded Screw Adapter for Camera Tripod Mount GoPro Action Cam

Both ends are UNC 1/4"-20 male threads — the standard tripod screw size used by the vast majority of cameras, action cams, and mounting accessories worldwide. This is not a 3/8" adapter; if your device uses a 3/8"-16 socket, you will need a different adapter.

This adapter is generally compatible with any device that uses a standard 1/4"-20 female tripod socket, including GoPro action cameras (with appropriate housing or frame), DSLR cameras, mirrorless cameras, and most tripod heads, ball heads, cold shoe adapters, and quick release plates. If you are unsure of your device's thread size, check the product manual or measure the socket diameter — a 1/4" socket is approximately 6.35 mm across.

Standard double male adapters without a hex socket must be tightened by gripping the knurled collar with your fingers. This typically results in under-tightening, which causes the adapter to loosen under vibration, or over-tightening by force, which can strip threads. The 3.5 mm hex socket on this adapter lets you use an M3 Allen wrench to apply controlled torque — securing the connection firmly without damaging the threads on your camera or accessory.

The 1/4"-20 thread standard is generally rated to handle several kilograms when properly torqued, which covers most action camera, mirrorless, and DSLR setups. The practical load limit is typically determined by the weakest link in your mounting chain — usually the tripod head or ball head — rather than the adapter itself. For heavy cinema rigs with large lenses, verify your full rig weight against your tripod head's rated capacity.

Yes. The aluminum alloy construction is lightweight and generally corrosion-resistant for typical outdoor shooting conditions including dust, light moisture, and temperature variation. It is not rated for submersion. For wet-weather shoots or water sports filming with a GoPro, dry the adapter thoroughly after use to maintain thread integrity over time.

You can hand-tighten the adapter using the knurled collar for initial positioning. For a secure, vibration-resistant connection — especially in overhead, inverted, or high-movement shooting positions — we recommend finishing with an M3 hex wrench in the 3.5 mm socket. An M3 Allen key is widely available and often included in camera cage or accessory kits.
