2:1 Heat Shrink Tubing — Clear Transparent Heatshrink Sleeving, Φ0.8mm to Φ15mm

Measure the outer diameter of the wire or connector you need to cover. Choose a heat shrink tube with a recovered (shrunken) diameter slightly smaller than that measurement. As a general rule, the pre-shrink diameter should be at least 20–30% larger than the object being covered. For example, for a 2mm wire, a Φ3mm tube typically works well. When in doubt, size up — you can always apply more heat to tighten the fit.

A 2:1 shrink ratio means the tubing will shrink to approximately half its original diameter when heat is applied. For example, a Φ6mm tube will shrink down to roughly Φ3mm (≈1/8") after heating. This ratio is the most common for general-purpose wire insulation and cable sleeving tasks.

A heat gun is the most reliable and recommended tool, as it provides even, controlled heat distribution. A soldering station with a hot-air attachment also works well. For very small diameters (Φ0.8mm–2mm), careful use of a lighter is generally possible, though it may cause uneven shrinkage if not applied carefully. Avoid using an open flame directly on larger diameters.

Yes. The tubing is sold in continuous lengths (1m, 3m, 5m, 10m, or 20m) and can be cut to any length with scissors or a utility knife. Cutting before shrinking is easiest. If you need to trim after shrinking, a sharp blade works well on the recovered tubing.
