9mm Heat Shrink Tubing 2:1 – Electrical Wire Sleeve & Cable Wrap

Measure the total length of wire or cable you need to cover, then add 10–15% extra for overlap and trimming. For a single splice, 1 meter is typically sufficient. For wiring harnesses or longer cable runs, 10–50 meter rolls offer better value. When in doubt, size up — unused tubing stores easily.

This tubing has a 2:1 shrink ratio, meaning it shrinks to approximately half its original diameter when heat is applied. A 9mm tube will shrink down to roughly 4.5mm, creating a snug, insulating sleeve around your wire or connector.

This tubing generally activates at temperatures around 70–90°C (158–194°F) and fully shrinks at approximately 120°C (248°F). A heat gun is the recommended tool. A lighter or match can work in a pinch but may cause uneven shrinkage or scorching.

Standard 2:1 polyolefin heat shrink tubing is generally moisture-resistant once shrunk, making it suitable for most indoor and light outdoor applications. For fully waterproof connections, we recommend adhesive-lined (3:1 or 4:1) heat shrink tubing instead, which creates a sealed barrier.

A 9mm inner diameter typically accommodates wire bundles, connectors, or cables up to approximately 8–8.5mm in diameter before shrinking. This is generally compatible with wire gauges from AWG 4 up to small cable bundles. Always measure your cable's outer diameter before selecting tubing size.

Polyolefin heat shrink tubing is commonly used in automotive and marine wiring for insulation and abrasion protection. It is generally rated for continuous use up to 125°C and resists fuels, oils, and mild chemicals. Confirm your specific application requirements before use in high-heat engine bays.
