Ensure the tube OD matches the fitting size exactly for a proper seal. Using an undersized or oversized tube will prevent the ferrule from seating correctly.

The fitting body and nut can typically be reused. However, the ferrule (olive) deforms permanently during initial installation as it compresses around the tube. In most cases, the ferrule should be replaced if the fitting is reassembled on a new tube section to ensure a reliable, leak-free seal. Reusing the original ferrule on the same tube in the same position is sometimes acceptable for temporary reassembly.
