BSP Stainless Steel 304 Female Thread Hosetails Barbed Connector Pipe Fittings

Match the barb diameter to the internal diameter (ID) of your hose, not the outer diameter. For example, if your hose has a 10 mm ID, select the variant with a 10 mm barb. A barb that is slightly larger than the hose ID creates a tighter grip; going more than 1–2 mm oversized risks splitting the hose.

BSP (British Standard Pipe) and NPT (National Pipe Thread) are not interchangeable. BSP uses a 55° thread angle; NPT uses 60°. These fittings are BSP female (BSPP/G parallel thread). Check your existing port or male fitting to confirm it is BSP before ordering. If you are unsure, contact us to confirm compatibility.

For low-pressure applications such as garden irrigation (typically under 3 bar / 43 psi), the ribbed barb profile alone provides a secure grip on flexible hose. For higher-pressure systems — compressed air lines or industrial fluid transfer — we recommend adding a stainless steel hose clamp over the barb for additional security.

304 stainless steel is widely used in food-processing and potable-water systems due to its corrosion resistance and low leaching characteristics. However, regulatory compliance (e.g., NSF/ANSI 61, WRAS) depends on the full system design and local codes. If your application requires certified fittings, contact us to confirm before purchasing.

Wrap 2–3 layers of PTFE (plumber's) tape clockwise around the male thread before assembly, or apply a thread sealant compound. BSPP/G is a parallel (non-tapered) thread, so it relies on a sealing washer or O-ring at the face rather than thread taper alone — ensure the mating male fitting includes a sealing face or washer.

304 stainless steel is mechanically suitable for compressed air at typical workshop pressures (up to approximately 10 bar / 145 psi depending on size and wall thickness). Always verify the working pressure rating for your specific size variant and ensure all connections are properly sealed. For gas lines, consult local regulations and a qualified installer.

These barbed fittings work with most flexible hose types including PVC garden hose, silicone tubing, rubber air hose, and braided reinforced hose — provided the hose internal diameter matches the barb size. Rigid or semi-rigid tubing (e.g., copper, CPVC) is not suitable for barbed connections and requires a compression or push-fit fitting instead.
