Match the outer diameter (OD) to your existing fittings or pipe schedule. For length, measure the gap between fittings and add allowance for socket depth — typically 10–20mm per end depending on fitting size. Available ODs run from 20mm (≈3/4") to 315mm (≈12.4"), and lengths from 20mm to 500mm. If you need an intermediate length, select the next size up and trim on-site.

Pressure rating depends on OD, wall thickness, and operating temperature. Generally, grey PVC solvent weld pipe in this range is suited to low-to-medium pressure cold-water drainage and gravity-flow applications. For pressure-critical systems, confirm the specific wall thickness variant and consult the relevant BS/EN standard. These pipes are not typically rated for continuous hot-water service.

Grey PVC is generally suitable for underground drainage runs and protected outdoor installations. For prolonged direct UV exposure above ground, painting with a UV-resistant paint or sleeving is typically recommended, as unprotected PVC can become brittle over time. Underground, the material is resistant to soil moisture and most common ground chemicals.

These are plain-end solvent weld pipes — they have no threads. They are designed to be joined using PVC solvent cement with compatible metric PVC solvent weld fittings (elbows, tees, couplings, etc.). OD dimensions generally conform to metric BS/EN standards. Do not attempt to use with push-fit or compression fittings without confirming compatibility.

Use a PVC solvent cement rated for the pipe OD and application (drainage or pressure). For smaller diameters (typically up to 63mm), a standard-bodied cement is generally sufficient. For larger diameters (90mm and above), a medium- or heavy-bodied cement is typically recommended. Initial handling strength is usually achieved within 15–30 minutes; full cure before pressure testing is generally 24 hours at room temperature.

A fine-tooth hacksaw, ratchet pipe cutter, or miter saw all work well. Always cut square to the pipe axis. After cutting, deburr the inside edge and chamfer the outside edge at approximately 15° to allow the pipe to enter the fitting socket smoothly and prevent cement from being wiped off during assembly. Clean both surfaces with PVC cleaner/primer before applying cement.
