Measure the center-to-center distance between your two pulleys, then use the formula: Loop Circumference ≈ 2 × center distance + (π × pulley pitch diameter). For example, a 400mm loop (50T) typically suits a center distance of roughly 170–180mm with standard HTD-8M pulleys. When in doubt, size up — a slightly longer belt can generally be tensioned, while a belt that is too short cannot be installed. Inch conversion: 1 inch = 25.4mm, so 400mm ≈ 15.7".

This belt uses the HTD-8M profile, meaning each tooth is spaced 8mm apart (pitch = 8mm). The tooth profile is a rounded curvilinear shape designed to reduce stress concentration and improve load distribution compared to trapezoidal belts.

This belt is compatible with any HTD-8M standard pulley with a 25mm (or wider) bore width. The HTD-8M designation is an internationally recognized standard, so pulleys from most major suppliers — including those used in CNC routers, laser cutters, and industrial automation — will generally fit. Always verify the pulley's pitch and width before ordering.

HTD-8M belts are generally rated for moderate-to-high torque applications. The 25mm width typically provides greater load capacity than narrower 15mm or 20mm variants of the same profile. Exact load ratings depend on speed, pulley diameter, and installation tension. For precision CNC or 3D printing use, this belt is generally more than adequate; for heavy industrial drives, consult the load tables for your specific setup.

The rubber compound used in HTD timing belts is generally resistant to light moisture and moderate temperature ranges (typically –20°C to +80°C / –4°F to +176°F). However, prolonged exposure to oils, solvents, UV radiation, or extreme heat can degrade the belt over time. For outdoor or harsh-environment applications, we recommend inspecting the belt periodically and replacing it as needed.

This is a closed-loop (endless) timing belt — it forms a continuous loop with no seam or joint. This design eliminates the weak point of a joined belt and ensures consistent tension and tooth engagement throughout the full rotation.

HTD-8M has an 8mm pitch with a rounded tooth profile, making it suited for higher-torque, lower-speed applications such as CNC axis drives and conveyor systems. GT2 belts (2mm pitch) are common in smaller 3D printers and require much smaller pulleys. T5 belts use a trapezoidal tooth profile with a 5mm pitch. Always match the belt profile and pitch to your existing pulleys — they are not interchangeable across profiles.
