Male Thread Barbed Hose Connector — Straight Plastic Fitting, 1/2" & 3/4" Thread, 4mm–25mm Barb

Match the barb diameter to your hose's inner diameter (ID). For example, a 4mm (≈5/32") barb fits a hose with a 4mm ID; a 16mm (≈5/8") barb fits a 16mm ID hose. Available barb sizes range from 4mm to 25mm (≈1"). When in doubt, measure the inside of your hose with calipers before ordering — using a barb that's too small will result in a loose, leaky connection.

These fittings use BSP (British Standard Pipe) male threads, available in 1/2" and 3/4" sizes. BSP threads are generally compatible with most standard garden taps, irrigation manifolds, and plumbing fittings. BSP and NPT threads are not interchangeable — if your system uses NPT threads, please contact us to confirm compatibility before ordering.

Yes. The plastic construction is generally resistant to moisture and mild UV exposure, making these connectors suitable for garden drip irrigation, outdoor hose runs, and greenhouse watering systems. For prolonged direct sunlight exposure, routing hoses in shaded areas or wrapping connections is typically recommended to extend service life.

Plastic barbed hose fittings of this type are generally rated for low-to-medium pressure applications, typically suitable for gravity-fed drip systems and standard garden hose pressure (generally up to around 60–80 PSI with a properly sized hose clamp). For high-pressure systems, we recommend confirming the working pressure with us before purchase.

For low-pressure gravity-fed or drip irrigation systems, the barb grip is often sufficient on its own. For pressurized water lines, using a hose clamp over the barb is strongly recommended to prevent the hose from blowing off under pressure. Hose clamps are not included and should be purchased separately.

Yes. These barbed connectors work with most flexible PVC, polyurethane, and rubber hoses. For semi-rigid tubing, gently warming the hose end in warm water before pushing it onto the barb makes installation easier and ensures a tighter seal around the barb ribs.

Yes — applying 2–3 wraps of PTFE thread tape (plumber's tape) to the male threads before installation is generally recommended. This helps create a leak-free seal at the threaded connection and makes future removal easier without damaging the threads or the receiving port.
