A 2-position switch (ON-OFF) is the standard choice when you need a simple circuit open/close function — for example, controlling a light, fan, or accessory. A 3-position switch (ON-OFF-ON) is used when you need to switch between two separate circuits or directions, such as reversing a motor or selecting between two power sources. Choose based on how many circuit states your application requires.

A latching (standard) toggle switch stays in the position you flip it to — ON stays ON until you flip it OFF. A momentary toggle switch (marked "Momentary" in the variant name) only completes the circuit while you hold the lever; it springs back to the neutral position when released. Momentary switches are typically used for horn buttons, starter circuits, or pulse-trigger applications in custom dashboard builds.

The pin count reflects the switch's internal circuit configuration:

• 2-pin (SPST): Simple on/off — one input, one output.
• 3-pin (SPDT): One input connects to one of two outputs — useful for selector circuits.
• 4-pin (DPST): Switches two separate circuits simultaneously on/off.
• 6-pin (DPDT): The most versatile — switches two circuits between two states, commonly used for motor direction control toggle switches and dual-circuit selectors.

The switch body is a metal panel-mount design rated for general indoor, automotive, and dashboard use. For outdoor or moisture-exposed installations, the optional Waterproof Cover variant adds a protective rubber boot over the toggle lever, providing light moisture protection. For fully submersible or IP67+ applications, a purpose-rated sealed switch is generally recommended. The Waterproof Cover is sold as a separate variant and does not include a switch.

Rated at 15A at 250V AC, this switch can handle loads such as lighting circuits, small motors, fans, and automotive accessories. As a general rule, size your switch to at least 125% of your expected continuous load current. Both BEM and E-TEN are established toggle switch product lines with similar pin configurations and position options.
