Standard rigid PVC can become brittle with prolonged direct UV exposure over time. For outdoor pond or rainwater applications with direct sunlight, consider wrapping exposed pipe runs or using UV-stabilized PVC where available. For indoor aquarium and sump use, UV degradation is not a concern.

A basic single-overflow sump setup typically requires 2–4 elbows and 1–2 straight connectors depending on the pipe routing.
