Measure the inner diameter (ID) of your existing pipe in millimeters. Match it to the available sizes: 20 mm (~¾"), 25 mm (~1"), 32 mm (~1¼"), 40 mm (~1½"), 50 mm (~2"), or 63 mm (~2½"). If you're unsure, measure the outer diameter and subtract twice the wall thickness, or check your pipe's printed specifications.

Choose Straight+Straight for a direct inline connection between two pipe ends. Choose Straight+Elbow when you need to transition from a straight run to a 90-degree direction change on one side. Choose Elbow+Elbow when both ends of the connector need to turn — useful for tight corners in aquarium cabinetry or behind tank walls.

PVC is widely used in aquarium plumbing and is considered fish-safe once fully cured and rinsed. These fittings are not submerged directly in tank water — they are used in the external plumbing lines (inlet/outlet pipes). Rinse new fittings thoroughly with clean water before use. If using thread-seal tape, ensure it is fully seated and no loose material enters the water system.

No special tools are required. The threaded design allows hand-tightening. For a leak-resistant seal, wrap the male threads with PTFE thread-seal tape (plumber's tape) before threading on the connector. PVC solvent cement is not needed for threaded connections, though it can be used on slip-fit ends if your pipe system requires it.

Rigid PVC fittings are structurally robust for low-to-medium pressure water circulation applications such as aquarium sump returns, canister filter lines, and pond pump outlets. PVC does not rust or corrode. It resists chlorinated water, mild acids, and most common aquarium chemicals. Prolonged UV exposure can cause surface discoloration over time, but for indoor aquarium and pond plumbing applications where fittings are not exposed to direct sunlight, longevity is excellent under normal operating conditions.

A basic sump return typically requires 2–4 fittings depending on your pipe routing — one at the tank bulkhead outlet, one at the pump inlet, and additional elbows for directional changes.
