Measure the circumference of your battery pack and divide by 2 — that gives you the minimum flat width needed. For example, a pack with a 60mm circumference needs approximately 30mm flat width. The inner diameter (Ø) listed in each variant name is the approximate expanded diameter before shrinking. Always size up slightly to allow easy insertion before applying heat. When in doubt, go one size larger.

This tubing typically has a 2:1 shrink ratio, meaning it shrinks to approximately half its expanded (pre-heat) inner diameter. For example, a variant with Ø32mm expanded will shrink to roughly Ø16mm when fully heated. Actual results may vary slightly by size — if you need tight tolerances, we recommend testing a short sample first.

PVC heat shrink tubing generally provides a moisture-resistant barrier suitable for short-term outdoor or damp conditions, such as RC vehicles used in light rain or on wet grass. Avoid open flames — they can cause uneven shrinking, discoloration, or damage to the underlying cells. A hair dryer generally does not produce enough heat to activate PVC shrink tubing reliably.

Measure the length of your battery pack or the section you need to cover, then add 10–20mm (≈½") of extra length on each end for overlap and trimming after shrinking. For most standard RC packs, 1m (≈39") is sufficient for multiple wraps. Longer lengths — 2m, 5m, or 10m — are ideal for bulk rebuilds, workshop stock, or larger packs. The tubing is supplied in continuous rolls and can be cut to any length with scissors before applying heat.
