For hot-water supply, underfloor heating, or any system that regularly exceeds 60 °C, you should use CPVC, PP-R, or copper fittings rated for the required temperature and pressure.

uPVC offers strong resistance to chlorinated tap water, mild acids, alkalis, and many common fertiliser solutions used in irrigation. It does not rust or corrode in the way that metal fittings can. However, uPVC is not resistant to aromatic solvents, ketones, or concentrated oxidising acids — avoid contact with these substances and with solvent-based adhesives other than those specifically formulated for uPVC.

These are solvent weld fittings, which means they require a uPVC solvent cement (also called solvent weld adhesive or PVC glue) to form a permanent joint. Solvent cement is not included with the fittings. Use a cement specifically labelled for uPVC pressure pipe; apply a thin, even coat to both the pipe end and the socket interior, push firmly together with a slight twist, and hold for 30 seconds.
