The Socket (Thick) has a heavier wall section compared to the standard Socket, providing additional mechanical strength at the joint. It is suited to applications where the fitting may be subject to side-loading, vibration, or where a longer engagement length is preferred. For straightforward pressure pipe runs, the standard Socket is sufficient.
