Description

H62 Brass Discs Round Plate — Precision-Cut Flat Blanks for Metalworking and DIY

When your project demands a flat, dimensionally consistent metal blank and standard stock just won't cut it, sourcing the right brass disc becomes a real bottleneck. Whether you're a jeweller, model maker, engineer, or hands-on DIYer, these H62 brass round plates give you a reliable starting point — clean edges, consistent thickness, and a warm golden finish that machines and finishes beautifully.

Each disc is cut from H62 brass alloy sheet stock. Thickness options run from 0.5mm to 3mm (approx. 0.020" to 0.118"), and diameters span 10mm to 200mm (approx. 0.39" to 7.87"). The flat, undrilled disc profile makes them ready for drilling, stamping, engraving, or further shaping without pre-work.

Typical applications include custom gaskets and shims for mechanical assemblies, decorative inlays and medallions for woodworking projects, electrical contact blanks and grounding pads, jewellery and pendant blanks for hand-stamping, and scale model base plates or weight inserts.

⚙️ Compatibility: Suitable for general metalworking, jewellery making, model engineering, electronics, and decorative craft applications. Works with standard HSS drill bits, files, taps, and rotary tools.

✅ Key Features of These H62 Brass Round Discs

🟡 H62 Brass Alloy

Copper-zinc alloy with good machinability, moderate strength, and a warm golden appearance that polishes to a bright finish.

📐 Wide Size Range

Thickness from 0.5mm to 3mm; diameter from 10mm to 200mm — covering the most common blank sizes for DIY and light industrial use.

✂️ Flat, Undrilled Profile

Supplied as solid round blanks with no centre hole, giving you full freedom to drill, punch, or stamp to your exact specification.

🔧 Machinable and Solderable

H62 brass responds well to drilling, tapping, turning, and soft soldering — compatible with standard workshop tools and techniques.

🛡️ Corrosion-Resistant Surface

Brass naturally resists oxidation in typical indoor and light outdoor environments, making it suitable for decorative and functional parts alike.

📦 Flexible Pack Quantities

Available in 1, 2, 5, 10, and 25-piece packs — order exactly what your project requires without committing to bulk quantities.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose the right thickness for my project?

For decorative applications such as jewellery blanks or inlays, 0.5mm–1mm is typically sufficient. For structural or mechanical uses such as shims, gaskets, or weight inserts, 1.5mm–3mm provides better rigidity. If you need to tap threads into the disc, choose a thickness at least 1.5× the thread pitch you intend to cut.

What is H62 brass and how strong is it?

H62 is a standard copper-zinc brass alloy (approximately 60–63% copper, remainder zinc). It offers moderate tensile strength (typically 330–440 MPa), good ductility, and excellent machinability. It is softer than steel but significantly stronger than aluminium sheet of the same thickness, making it well-suited for light mechanical and decorative applications.

Will these brass discs rust or corrode?

Brass does not rust (rust is specific to iron-based metals). H62 brass has good resistance to atmospheric corrosion in typical indoor environments. In humid or marine conditions, it may develop a patina over time. Applying a clear lacquer or wax finish will preserve the bright appearance if desired.

Can I drill or tap these discs with standard tools?

Yes. H62 brass machines readily with standard HSS drill bits, taps, and dies. Use a cutting speed appropriate for brass (generally higher than for steel), apply a small amount of cutting fluid or WD-40, and clamp the disc securely to prevent spinning. Avoid excessive feed pressure on thin discs (0.5mm–0.8mm) to prevent distortion.

Are these discs compatible with soft soldering and brazing?

Yes. H62 brass solders easily with standard 60/40 or lead-free solder and flux. For brazing, use a silver brazing alloy with an appropriate flux. Ensure the surface is clean and free of oxidation before joining. These discs are not suitable for fusion welding without specialist equipment.

Which size should I order for a custom gasket or shim?

Select a diameter slightly larger than your target gasket OD so you have material to trim or turn down. For shim applications, match the thickness to your required clearance — our 0.5mm and 0.8mm options are popular for fine shimming work. If you are unsure, ordering a 2-piece sample pack of your target size is a cost-effective way to verify fit before committing to a larger quantity.

What is the difference between the pack quantity options?

All pack options contain identical discs of the selected thickness and diameter — the only difference is the number of pieces per order. The per-piece price decreases with larger packs, so if you need multiple discs for a batch project or want spares, the 5, 10, or 25-piece packs offer better value per disc.
