Outboard Motor Transom Clamp Handle & Locking Screw – Bracket Clamp Replacement Parts

Select the Clamp Screw variant. This is the threaded bolt that passes through the transom clamp bracket and is tightened by the handle to clamp the motor to the transom. If only the screw is damaged or stripped, this variant replaces it without requiring you to replace the entire handle assembly. The Locking Pressure Plate is the flat metal plate that sits between the clamp screw tip and the transom surface, distributing the clamping load and preventing the screw from digging into the transom material. Replace it if the original plate is bent, cracked, or has worn through its surface. It is also needed when replacing the clamp screw on brackets where the original plate is missing or lost.

The Complete Clamp Handle Set includes the clamp screw, the locking pressure plate, and the handle assembly as a matched set. This is the recommended option if multiple components are worn or damaged simultaneously, or if you want to restore the full clamping assembly to factory condition in a single order without sourcing each part separately.

These are universal-fit transom clamp replacement parts designed to fit the standard clamp bracket design used on most small to mid-size outboard motors. They are generally compatible with motors from Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, Tohatsu, Mercury, and similar brands. However, clamp screw thread pitch and diameter can vary between motor brands and models. Replace the clamp screw if: the threads are stripped and the handle no longer tightens securely; the screw shaft is bent or cracked; the handle spins freely without generating clamping force; or the motor has shifted or come loose from the transom during use. A clamp screw that does not hold the motor securely is a serious safety hazard and must be replaced before the next outing.

The Plastic Clamp Handle is a replacement grip body for brackets that originally used a plastic handle. It is not a direct substitute for a metal handle on brackets that originally used metal handles, as the attachment interface may differ. Select this variant if your original handle was plastic and has cracked or broken. If your original handle was metal, select the Complete Clamp Handle Set or Pair of Clamping Handles variants instead.

The metal components are made from corrosion-resistant steel. For saltwater use, rinse all metal parts with fresh water after each outing and apply a light coat of marine-grade anti-corrosion spray to the screw threads periodically to prevent seizing. The plastic handle components are resistant to saltwater exposure under normal use conditions.

Tighten the clamp screw firmly by hand until the motor bracket is held securely against the transom with no movement. Do not use tools to over-tighten, as this can strip the threads or crack the transom material. After tightening, check that the motor does not shift when pushed laterally. Re-check tightness after the first few minutes of operation, as vibration can cause the clamp to loosen slightly on initial use.
