Four Steps to a Custom Leak-Proof Paint Spout

Step 1: Cut the bottle top

Use a utility knife to cut off the top third of an empty plastic beverage bottle. Make sure to keep the bottle cap tightly secured for this step.

Step 2: Position on the can

Place the inverted plastic funnel section directly over the mouth of your freshly opened paint can, ensuring it covers the outer rim.

Step 3: Heat shrink to seal

Apply even heat around the plastic sleeve using a heat gun. Watch the plastic shrink and mold tightly to the can't edges, creating a seamless, leak-proof seal.

Step 4: Unscrew and pour neatly

Remove the bottle cap and pour your paint effortlessly. The neck acts as a perfect spout, completely shielding the can's groove from sticky buildup. When done, just wipe the neck and screw the cap back on for airtight storage.

Look at that! With just a single recycled bottle and two minutes of prep, you can entirely eliminate the sticky, messy cleanup of traditional paint cans. No more gummed-up rims or wasted paint on your next project. Got an empty bottle in your recycling bin right now? Grab your heat gun, gear up, and let’s get DIYing together!
