How to Create a Custom Chuck Key Holder Directly on Your Drill

This quick DIY project provides a permanent storage solution for easily misplaced drill chuck keys. By molding hot glue layers directly onto the tool casing, you can build a perfectly fitted, secure sleeve. This simple modification ensures your chuck key remains within arm's reach and won't fall off during heavy work.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Base & Position

Apply a thick layer of hot glue onto the drill body and immediately embed the chuck key shaft into it.

Step 2: Seal & Fuse

Cover the key shaft completely with a second heavy layer of hot glue to fuse it with the base.

Step 3: Cut & Shape

Once hardened, slice a clean opening at the top with a utility knife and trim the rough edges.

Step 4: Test

Pull the key out of the newly molded custom sleeve and slide it back in to confirm a tight, reliable hold.
