This M2.5 x 15mm aluminium knurled thumb screw is exactly what you need. The flat head sits flush against panels, while the fine mesh knurling gives you a secure, non‑slip grip – no tools required. Perfect for computer cases, electronic enclosures, model making, and any project where a hand‑tightened fastener adds both function and style.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions – M2.5 Aluminium Thumb Screw

1. How do I measure the length of this thumb screw?

The length (15mm) is measured from the underside of the flat head (where the knurling meets the shaft) to the tip of the threaded stud. The head itself is NOT included. This 15mm thread is ideal for panels up to ~12mm thick when used with a nut, or for deeper tapped holes.

2. Is the screw fully threaded? Can I use it with a nut?

Yes – it is fully threaded from under the head to the tip. If you need to fasten through a plain hole, use a standard M2.5 metric nut (0.45mm pitch). For pre‑tapped M2.5 holes, no nut is needed.

3. What colours are available? Will the colour match the photo?

We offer a range of anodised colours (black, silver, red, blue, gold, green, etc.). Actual colour may vary slightly between batches or due to monitor calibration – this is normal for anodised finishes. Please contact us for specific colour availability.

4. Will the aluminium thumb screw rust? Can I use it outdoors?

Aluminium naturally forms a protective oxide layer, and anodising adds extra corrosion resistance. It is suitable for indoor and light outdoor use. For continuous saltwater or harsh chemical environments, we recommend stainless steel thumb screws.

5. Is the flat head designed to sit flush with the surface?

Yes – the flat head sits nearly flush on the material surface. Unlike a countersunk head, it does not require a tapered hole. It provides a low profile while still offering a wide bearing area.

6. Can I get other lengths or custom colours?

Yes – we offer custom lengths and a wide range of anodised colours. Please contact us with your requirements.
