Description

M3–M5 Black Hex Socket Countersunk Screws — Flush Fit, Rust-Proof, Precision Black Finish

When your project demands hardware that disappears into the surface — custom PC builds, black anodized panels, marine enclosures, or automotive trim — standard silver screws break the look. These M3, M4, and M5 hex socket countersunk screws are built for builders who care about the details.

Machined from A2 stainless steel (304) and coated with a durable electrophoresis black finish, each screw features a 90° flat countersunk head that sits perfectly flush after proper countersinking. Thread diameters M3–M5, lengths from 5 mm (~0.20 in) to 30 mm (~1.18 in) overall (head included), fully threaded, coarse pitch.

Ideal for electronics enclosures, black hardware builds, outdoor equipment, marine fittings, and any application where a low-profile, corrosion-resistant dark fastener is required.

Compatible with standard M3, M4, and M5 metric tapped holes, threaded inserts, and matching metric nuts. Hex socket drive requires 2 mm (M3), 2.5 mm (M4), or 3 mm (M5) Allen key.

✅ Key Features of These Black Hex Socket Countersunk Screws

  • 🔽 90° Countersunk Flat Head: Sinks flush with the surface after countersinking — no protruding heads, clean and professional finish every time.
  • Electrophoresis Black Finish: Uniform matte black coating with strong adhesion and salt-spray resistance. Adds corrosion protection on top of the stainless base.
  • 🔧 Hex Socket (Allen) Drive: Allows high torque without cam-out. Clean recess resists dirt and debris buildup — ideal for precision assembly.
  • 🛡️ A2 Stainless Steel (304) Core: Even if the black coating is scratched, the stainless base will not rust — a critical advantage over black-coated carbon steel alternatives.
  • 📐 Overall Length Measurement (Head Included): Lengths of 5–30 mm are measured from the top of the head to the tip, per DIN 7991 / ISO 10642 standard. Fully threaded, coarse pitch.
  • 📦 Multiple Pack Sizes Available: Choose from 10, 20, 50, 100, or 200 pcs — stock up for your project or buy just what you need.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

How is the length of these countersunk screws measured?

For countersunk flat head screws (DIN 7991), length is measured overall — from the top of the head to the tip. An M4 × 10 mm screw has a total length of 10 mm including the head. This matches our listing.

Do I need to countersink the hole for a flush fit?

Yes. These are true 90° countersunk screws. To achieve a flush or slightly recessed finish, drill a matching 90° countersink hole using a countersink bit slightly larger than the head diameter.

Are these screws fully threaded?

Yes — all M3, M4, and M5 screws in this range (up to 30 mm overall length) are fully threaded from under the head to the tip, providing maximum grip in blind holes or through-nut applications.

Will the black coating scratch or wear off? What about rust?

Electrophoresis black bonds firmly to the steel and resists scratches better than paint. Heavy torque or contact with sharp metal may leave marks. However, the base material is A2 stainless steel — even if the coating wears, the screw itself will not rust. This is a major advantage over black-coated carbon steel screws.

What hex key (Allen key) size do I need?

M3 uses a 2 mm Allen key, M4 uses 2.5 mm, and M5 uses 3 mm. Always use a quality hex key that fits snugly to avoid rounding the socket.

Can I use these screws with a nut? What size nut fits?

Yes — these are machine screws. Use standard metric nuts of the same thread size (M3, M4, or M5). They also thread into pre-tapped holes. Note: these are not self-tapping — for wood or plastic, use a threaded insert or a nut on the back.

What is the difference between electrophoresis black and regular black oxide?

Electrophoresis (e-coat) applies a polymer coating via electrical charge, resulting in a uniform, well-adhered film with better corrosion resistance than traditional black oxide. Black oxide is a chemical conversion coating that offers minimal corrosion protection on its own and typically requires oil treatment.

Are these screws magnetic?

A2 stainless steel is generally non-magnetic in its annealed state. However, cold working during manufacturing (such as thread rolling) can induce slight magnetism. For most applications this is not an issue, but if zero magnetism is critical, please verify with a magnet before use.
