The gravity ball is a weighted retraction mechanism attached to the pull-down hose inside the faucet body. When you release the sprayer head after pulling it down, the weight of the gravity ball pulls the hose back up into the docked position automatically—keeping the hose tidy and the sprayer head seated in the spout.
