Finicky if you don't have the right tool but not impossible to install

The tools I found to install these were expensive so after getting some YouTube inspiration I made my own. You'll need something that will function as a sleeve (the socket in my photo) that will apply the compressive force and keep the rivnut from spinning in the hole. Once that's on there just ratchet down on the bolt going through the length of the tool / nut while keeping downward force on the nut. I found with a power tool it's easy to over tighten and break the nut so use care if going to town with a power drill. Once installed the nut seems like it works great. It's keeping my allen key set in it's spot on the side of my toolbox without issue.

5.0 out of 5 stars They actually hold well!

While mounting my aluminum motherboard to my proton pack shell, I made a slight error in making the bracket holes a bit too big, so I had to use these. Honestly, these work great! Strong, and they are very well threaded :D

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Quality

I did a project where I installed a block-off plate to my door (car stereo-related). The custom panel came from the vendor with sheet metal screws which I didn't really like the idea of. Already having the necessary tools, I decided to install using rivet nuts instead so that the installation would be clean and the plates could be easily removed to service the window components if ever need be. These installed nicely and didn't have any torquing issues (I have had rivnuts crimp off-centered). Definitely recommend will use again for future projects.

Very good insert with good knurling on the lip

Does what an insert is supposed to do. I use these on a relatively thin plastic housing that sits atop a heavy PPE plate that holds an SLA and electronics. The knurling on the rim of the insert is typically enough to grab the PPE of the thin housing and hold it from turning while the machine screw comes in from below. Already used a ton of these, and expect to use hundreds more in the very near future. Good machine work; consistent threads. Recommend.

Used more than a 100 with no issues

Worked great with no issues. I would keep a tap handy just to chase any thread that doesn't fit smooth so you are not forcing the rivet to turn in case a bolt is binding up due to a burr or debris, etc
