TC-type rotary shaft oil seals are generally designed for low-to-medium pressure applications. These seals conform to the R23 / TC standard, which follows ISO 6194 and DIN 3760 guidelines for radial shaft seals. The TC designation indicates a double-lip seal with a metal case and garter spring. A single-lip seal retains lubricant on one side only. A double-lip TC seal adds a secondary dust lip that faces outward, preventing dirt, dust, and moisture from reaching the primary sealing lip. Nitrile rubber is generally compatible with petroleum-based oils, hydraulic fluids, water, and many greases. It is not recommended for use with brake fluids (DOT 3/4/5.1), phosphate ester hydraulic fluids, or aromatic/chlorinated solvents.
