A single sheave pulley redirects a rope in one plane and is used to change the direction of pull. These pulleys are compatible with fiber rope (nylon, polyester, polypropylene), braided cord, and light wire rope or cable, provided the rope diameter does not exceed the groove width of the selected sheave size. Avoid using ropes that are too thick, as this causes the rope to ride on the sheave flanges rather than the groove, increasing wear and reducing efficiency.

Multi-point rigging systems — such as a 3:1 or 5:1 mechanical advantage block-and-tackle — require multiple pulleys. Purchasing a 3-pack or 5-pack ensures you have matched pulleys for a complete system and reduces per-unit cost. The swivel eye is designed to accept a shackle, carabiner, hook, or bolt through the eye opening. Select hardware rated to at least the same working load as the pulley.
