The tooth count determines the pitch diameter and, combined with your motor pulley, sets the drive ratio. A higher tooth count gives a larger pulley diameter, which increases belt contact arc and reduces tooth load — useful for high-torque applications. For a 1:1 drive, match the tooth count on both pulleys. For speed reduction, use a larger tooth count on the driven side.
Measure your motor or shaft diameter precisely with calipers. Select the bore that matches your shaft — for example, a NEMA 17 stepper motor typically has a 5mm shaft, while larger servo motors may use 8mm, 10mm, or 12mm shafts. If your shaft has a keyway, choose the corresponding keyway bore variant (e.g., 10mm–K3mm or 12mm–K4mm).
A plain through-hole bore is secured to the shaft using a set screw. This is suitable for lighter loads and lower-torque applications. A keyway bore uses a machined slot (keyway) that accepts a key inserted between the shaft and pulley, providing a positive mechanical lock that resists rotational slipping under high torque — recommended for demanding CNC and industrial applications.
These pulleys are designed for the 3M pitch synchronous belt profile (3mm tooth pitch). While GT2 belts also have a 2mm pitch, the 3M profile is a distinct standard. Please verify that your belt is specifically a 3M pitch belt (not GT2 2mm pitch) before ordering. The belt width must also be 11mm to match these pulleys.
