410 stainless is harder and offers higher strength than 304. It provides good atmospheric corrosion resistance for indoor and mild outdoor use. It is also magnetic. For constant saltwater or harsh chemical exposure, 304 or 316 would be preferable, but for roofing, framing, automotive, and general construction, 410 holds up very well.
