❔ Frequently Asked Questions
Are these screws fully stainless steel or just the head?
They are 100% 304 stainless steel – both the knurled head and the threaded shaft are made from the same solid A2 material. No dissimilar metals, no coatings to wear off, and excellent corrosion resistance throughout.
Which thread size do I need for my PC case?
Most standard PC cases use 6-32 UNC (imperial) for side panels and drive mounts. However, many newer cases and smaller electronics use M3 or M3.5 metric threads. For laptops, cameras, and 3D printers, M2, M2.5, M3 are common. If you’re unsure, remove one of your existing screws and compare to a known M3 or M4 nut – or measure the diameter with calipers (M3 = 3mm, M4 = 4mm, etc.).
Will the knurling wear out or become smooth over time?
The knurling is cut into solid stainless steel, not pressed or coated. Under normal hand use, it will last for many years without losing grip. Abrasive materials or heavy tools could damage it, but for typical finger tightening, it remains effective.
How do I choose the correct thread length?
Measure the thickness of the material you’re clamping (panel, bracket, etc.). Add 2-3mm to ensure the screw can fully engage a nut or bottom out in a blind hole. For example, a 5mm thick panel → choose 8mm length. We offer lengths from 4mm to 60mm – if you need a specific length not listed, contact us.
Do these screws come with nuts or washers?
This listing is for the thumb screws only. However, we sell matching stainless steel nuts and washers separately. Contact customer service to add them to your order – we can bundle them for a small extra cost.
Will these rust if used on a boat or near salt water?
304 stainless steel (A2) has good corrosion resistance for most outdoor and coastal environments, but for continuous saltwater exposure or marine use, we recommend upgrading to 316 stainless steel (A4). Contact us if you need 316 – we can do custom orders.
