Measure the internal diameter of your female fitting or pipe thread. BSP sizes are nominal — for example, a 1" BSP nipple typically has an actual thread OD of approximately 33.25mm (1.309"). For reducing nipples, the first dimension listed is the larger (inlet) end and the second is the smaller (outlet) end. When in doubt, use a thread gauge or consult your pipe schedule documentation.

Brass BSP hex nipples generally handle working pressures up to 150–200 PSI for water and air applications, though the exact rating depends on the size, wall thickness, and the medium being conveyed.
