Count the number of independent circuits you need to control. A 2-pole (2P) switch controls one circuit, a 3-pole (3P) controls three, and so on up to 12-pole (12P) for multi-circuit panels. For a single light or accessory, 2P is typically sufficient. For multi-circuit marine or automotive panels, choose 6P, 9P, or 12P. When in doubt, size up — unused poles can be left unwired.

A 2-gear switch has two positions: ON and OFF — straightforward for controlling a single load. A 3-gear switch adds a center-off position, allowing you to switch between two separate circuits or directions. This is commonly used for reversing DC motors, selecting between two power sources, or controlling two independent loads from one switch.

Series A, B, and C switches are generally rated at 15A/250VAC, which is sufficient for most automotive accessories, LED lighting, fans, and small appliances. Series D 12-position switches are rated at 25A, making them appropriate for higher-load applications such as heavy marine equipment, winches, or industrial control panels. Always size your switch to at least 125% of your expected continuous load current.

The standard toggle switches (Series A–D) are designed for panel mounting in protected enclosures. For exposed outdoor or marine environments, we recommend pairing them with the Series E waterproof cover (dia 12mm), sold as a separate variant on this page. Auto Reset means the switch is momentary — it returns to its default OFF position as soon as you release the actuator. This is useful for horn buttons, starter circuits, electric choke activators, or any application where you only want the circuit active while the switch is physically held. Series B is available in 3P and 6P, 3-gear configurations.

The mounting hole diameter is typically 12mm (≈15/32") for the standard toggle body. Multi-pole versions may have a wider body footprint that requires a larger rectangular or multi-hole cutout pattern. Always verify with your specific variant before drilling. Yes. These toggle switches are rated for both AC and DC operation. They are commonly used in 12V DC automotive, marine, RV, and off-road vehicle applications. The 250VAC rating also makes them suitable for household and light industrial AC circuits. In DC applications, the current-breaking capacity may differ from the AC rating — contact us to confirm for high-current DC loads.

For a multi-circuit panel, Series C (2P–6P) or Series D (2P–12P, 25A) are generally the best fit. Series D 9P and 12P variants allow you to control up to 12 independent circuits from a single switch bank, reducing wiring complexity on boats, RVs, and industrial equipment.
