Measure the thickness of the material you are threading into, then add enough length for full thread engagement — generally at least 1.5× the bolt diameter (about 15mm for M10). A 25mm (≈1") bolt works well for thin panels; 80mm (≈3.1") or longer suits thick timber beams. Lengths up to 50mm are full-thread; 55mm and above have a fixed 50mm threaded section (b=50mm).

"Full Thread" means the threaded shank runs the entire bolt length — available in 25mm through 50mm. "b=50mm" means the threaded section is always 50mm regardless of total bolt length; the remaining upper shank is unthreaded. For longer bolts passing through thick materials, the b=50mm design is typically sufficient and is the industry-standard configuration for longer eye bolts.

Working load limits depend on installation angle and base material. A properly installed M10 304 stainless steel eye bolt can generally support several hundred pounds in a straight vertical pull, but capacity decreases significantly at angles — a 45° angle typically reduces capacity by around 30%. Always consult a structural engineer for safety-critical or overhead load-bearing applications.

304 stainless steel offers strong resistance to rust and oxidation, making these eye bolts well-suited for outdoor environments including garden structures, pergolas, patios, and light marine applications. For highly corrosive saltwater or chemical environments, 316 stainless steel is generally recommended. In most outdoor residential applications, 304 SS performs reliably for many years.

These eye bolts use the standard M10 metric coarse thread (M10 × 1.5mm pitch), compatible with standard M10 nuts, threaded inserts, and pre-tapped holes following ISO metric thread standards. Do not over-torque, as this can stress the eye ring.
