MTS Series Toggle Switch 3–12 Pin | On-On / On-Off-On | Blue & Red

Start with the number of circuits you need to switch: 3-pin (MTS-102/103) handles one circuit (SPDT), 6-pin (MTS-202/203) handles two circuits (DPDT), 9-pin (MTS-302/303) handles three circuits (3PDT), and 12-pin (MTS-402/403) handles four circuits (4PDT). Then choose 2-position (On-On) or 3-position (On-Off-On) based on whether you need a center-off state. For guitar true-bypass, a 3PDT On-On or On-Off-On is typically used.

MTS-series toggle switches are generally rated at 6A at 125V AC or 3A at 250V AC. For DC circuits, derate accordingly — DC switching is harder on contacts than AC. Always verify the rating printed on the switch body or its datasheet before use in high-current or safety-critical applications.

These switches are not rated for outdoor or waterproof use in their standard form. For outdoor installations or high-humidity environments, a rubber boot cover (sold separately) is typically fitted over the actuator to protect the body from moisture. Avoid direct water exposure without additional sealing.

MTS-series switches generally require a 12mm (≈15/32") round mounting hole. The threaded bushing passes through the panel and the included hex nut tightens from the rear to secure the switch. Panel thickness of up to typically 3–5mm is accommodated by the bushing thread length — measure your panel before drilling to confirm fit.

The blue and red colors refer to the toggle actuator (lever) color only — the electrical specifications and pin configurations are identical between color variants of the same model number. Color choice is purely for visual identification or panel aesthetics, making it easy to differentiate switch functions at a glance on multi-switch control panels.

MTS-series switches use solder lug (through-hole solder tab) terminals, not standard 0.1" pitch PCB pins. They are designed for panel mounting with wire leads soldered to the lugs. For direct PCB mounting, look for PC-mount toggle switch variants with right-angle or vertical pins. These are not breadboard compatible.

For a 3-pin On-Off-On (MTS-103): the center pin is the common (COM), one outer pin is output A (lever up), and the other outer pin is output B (lever down). The center position disconnects both outputs — useful for muting or neutral states. For multi-pole versions (MTS-203, MTS-303, MTS-403), each pole follows the same pattern. Refer to the switch's wiring diagram for exact pin numbering.
