Measure the outer diameter of the object you want to sleeve, then choose a tubing size that is typically 20–30% larger than that measurement before shrinking. For example, a 12mm handle generally fits well inside φ15mm tubing. Each variant label shows the pre-shrink inner diameter in millimeters — φ15mm (≈0.59"), φ20mm (≈0.79"), φ22mm (≈0.87"), φ25mm (≈0.98"), φ35mm (≈1.38"), φ40mm (≈1.57").

This textured grip tubing generally has a 2:1 shrink ratio, meaning it shrinks to approximately half its original inner diameter when heat is applied. So φ20mm tubing will typically recover to around φ10mm. We recommend confirming the final recovered diameter against your substrate on a short test piece before cutting your full length.

A heat gun set to around 90–120°C (194–248°F) is typically sufficient. Move the heat gun slowly and evenly along the tubing to avoid scorching or uneven shrinkage. A standard embossing heat gun, hobby heat gun, or industrial heat gun all work well. An open flame is generally not recommended as it can scorch the surface texture.

The flexible polymer material is generally moisture-resistant and suitable for occasional outdoor use — for example, on garden tool handles, fishing rod grips, or bicycle handlebars. For prolonged UV exposure or saltwater environments, verify the specific material rating. This tubing is not typically rated for continuous submersion in water.

This grip sleeving works on metal rods, PVC pipes, wooden dowels, fiberglass handles, tool shanks, bicycle grips, fishing rod handles, and similar cylindrical surfaces. It adheres by mechanical compression after shrinking — no adhesive is required. It is not designed for square or irregular cross-sections.

Yes. Cut the tubing to any length with scissors or a sharp utility knife before shrinking. Cut at a right angle for the cleanest edge. Shrink each section individually for the best result. The cut ends will not fray after shrinking.

Black is the most common choice for a neutral, professional look on tools and equipment. Colored options (Red, Blue, Green, Yellow) are useful for color-coding tools by user or function in shared workshops, identifying cable runs in equipment racks, or adding visibility to handles in low-light environments. All colors share the same grip texture and shrink performance.
