The extension shank adds extra length between the wall mount and the faucet body. This is useful if your water supply pipes are recessed deeper than standard, or if you want the faucet to project further forward to better reach back burners. It also accommodates thicker wall finishes (e.g., tile over backer board). If you don't need the extra length, the shank can be removed — the faucet works with or without it.
Chrome is naturally more reflective than matte finishes, so it may show fingerprints and water spots more easily. However, the special anti-corrosion treatment helps reduce spotting, and regular wiping with a soft, damp cloth keeps it gleaming. For those who prefer a low-maintenance finish, we also offer matte black and brushed nickel versions (sold separately).
If you already have 1/2” hot and cold water lines roughed into the wall behind your stove, installation is possible for a confident DIYer. You'll need to shut off the water, install the mounting bracket, connect the supply lines (using plumber's tape), and attach the faucet. For new construction or if you're not comfortable working with water lines, we recommend hiring a licensed plumber to ensure leak-free, code-compliant installation.
The dual ceramic cartridges are rated for over 500,000 cycles and are designed to be drip-free. If a drip develops after years of use, replacement cartridges are widely available and easy to swap. The solid brass body will never corrode or crack. With proper installation (no cross-threading, use of thread sealant), leaks should not occur.
With the extension shank installed, the fully extended spout reaches approximately 14-16 inches from the wall. This is sufficient to fill most stockpots (up to 16-20 quarts) placed on the back burner of a standard 30" range. For extra-large commercial ranges, measure the distance from your planned mounting location to the farthest burner to ensure compatibility.
