1. Are the washers removable? Can I use the screw without them?
The washers are pre‑assembled but can be removed if needed. However, they are designed to stay on the screw for convenience. If you remove them, they can be reused, but the assembly may not stay together as tightly.
2. What’s the difference between Pozi and Phillips? Which driver do I need?
Pozi (Pozidriv) has additional small ribs between the cross arms, allowing better bit engagement and reduced cam‑out. A standard Phillips driver will work, but for best results use a Pozi bit (marked PZ). For M2–M4, a PZ1 or PH1 size is typical.
3. Are these screws fully threaded? How do I measure length?
Yes – fully threaded from under the head to the tip. Length is measured from the underside of the head (excluding the head itself) to the tip. So an “M3 x 10mm” screw has a 10mm threaded shaft under the head.
4. Will the black zinc finish rust? Can I use these outdoors?
Black zinc provides moderate corrosion resistance – fine for indoor use and occasional light outdoor exposure (e.g., covered patio, workshop). For continuous outdoor or marine use, choose stainless steel. For most appliances, furniture, and indoor machinery, black zinc is perfectly adequate.
5. What size nut fits these screws? Do I need nuts?
These are machine screws – use standard metric nuts of the same thread size (M2, M2.5, M3, or M4 nut). They can also thread into pre‑tapped holes. For wood or plastic, use a threaded insert or a nut on the back.
