1. Are these screws self‑tapping? Can I drive them directly into wood or plastic?
No – these are machine screws, not self‑tapping screws. They are designed to go into a pre‑threaded hole (metal nut, threaded insert, or tapped plastic/metal). For wood or soft plastic without threads, drill a pilot hole slightly smaller than 3mm and the screw will cut its own threads, but it’s not optimized for that. For direct wood fastening, we recommend actual wood screws.
2. Will the nickel plating rust if I use these outdoors?
Nickel plating offers good protection against indoor humidity and occasional moisture, but it is not fully waterproof. For outdoor use or constant contact with water, choose stainless steel screws. These are best for indoor furniture, electronics, and workshop jigs.
