1. How do I pick the right size cap for my screw or rod?
Measure the outer diameter of the thread or the rod end. Choose a cap with an inner diameter slightly smaller than your measurement (rubber stretches) or exactly the same. For example, a Φ6mm cap will fit a 6mm thread snugly. If in doubt, go one size down – the material is flexible.
2. Can I reuse these caps after taking them off?
Yes – the vinyl rubber is elastic and durable. You can pull a cap off and push it onto another thread multiple times. Over many cycles, the fit may loosen slightly, but for typical shop or home use, they last a long time.
3. Do these caps work with both metric and imperial threads?
Absolutely. The cap grips the outer diameter, not the thread pitch. For imperial sizes, just convert to mm: 1/8″ ≈ 3.2mm, 1/4″ ≈ 6.4mm, 3/8″ ≈ 9.5mm, 1/2″ ≈ 12.7mm – then pick the nearest mm size from our list.
4. Are clear caps truly transparent? Can I see the thread inside?
Yes – the clear version is translucent enough that you can see the thread or rod end through it. It’s not perfectly optical clear, but you can easily identify the part underneath without removing the cap.
5. Can I use these outdoors? Are they UV resistant?
Black caps hold up best in direct sunlight. Colored and clear caps may fade or yellow slightly over extended UV exposure, but they still provide protection. For permanent outdoor use, we recommend black.
6. Do you sell mixed size packs or only individual sizes?
