Match the fitting size to your existing pipe's nominal diameter. 20mm (1/2") is standard for most household branch lines and garden drip systems. 25mm (3/4") suits main supply runs and irrigation headers. 32mm (1") is used for higher-flow mains or commercial-grade irrigation manifolds. If unsure, measure the outer diameter of your pipe and compare to standard PVC pipe OD charts.

The Straight fitting (equal socket coupling) joins two pipes in a straight line — used to extend a run or repair a section. The Tee creates a three-way branch junction, allowing a side outlet at 90° to the main run. The Elbow changes the pipe direction by 90°, used when routing around obstacles or turning a corner. All three share the same female BSP thread standard.

These fittings use the BSP (British Standard Pipe) female thread, which is the most common standard in Australia, the UK, and many Asian markets. Before ordering, confirm that your existing male fittings, valves, or risers are also BSP-threaded. NPT (US National Pipe Thread) fittings are not directly interchangeable with BSP, even in the same nominal size.

Wrap 2–3 layers of PTFE (plumber's) tape clockwise around the male thread before assembly. Hand-tighten first, then use a strap wrench or pipe wrench for an additional 1–2 turns — avoid over-tightening PVC threads, as this can crack the fitting. For low-pressure irrigation systems, PTFE tape alone is typically sufficient.

These rigid PVC fittings are rated for cold-water and ambient-temperature service, typically up to approximately 60°C. They are not suitable for hot water, steam, or compressed gas. For prolonged outdoor UV exposure, consider painting the fittings or using CPVC or PP fittings rated for UV resistance. Short-term outdoor use in shaded or buried applications is generally acceptable.

For a single repair or prototype, order 1 or 2 pieces. For a small irrigation zone with 3–5 outlets, a pack of 5 covers most layouts with a spare. For full manifold builds or multi-zone systems, packs of 10 or 20 offer a lower per-unit cost and reduce the risk of running short mid-project. Buying in larger quantities is also practical if you maintain a spare-parts inventory for ongoing facility management.

For threaded assembly: PTFE tape, a strap wrench or adjustable wrench (padded to avoid marring the fitting), and a pipe cutter or hacksaw if trimming pipe ends. No solvent cement is required for the threaded connection itself. Ensure pipe ends are cut square and deburred before threading to achieve a clean, leak-free joint.
