PVC is inherently resistant to rust, scale, and most household chemicals. These fittings will not corrode in normal cold-water, irrigation, or drainage service. Prolonged UV exposure without protective coating may cause surface discoloration over many years, but structural integrity is generally maintained.
These fittings are rated for cold-water service only (typically up to 60 °C / 140 °F). For hot-water supply lines or steam applications, CPVC or other heat-rated fittings are required. Using standard PVC above its rated temperature can cause deformation and joint failure.
Use a standard PVC solvent cement (also called PVC glue or PVC primer + cement) appropriate for the pipe diameter. For sizes 32 mm and above, a medium-bodied or heavy-bodied cement is recommended for a fuller socket fill. Solvent cement is not included and must be purchased separately.
