PVC Straight Coupling — Solvent Weld Drain Pipe Connector 50mm–250mm

Measure the outer diameter (OD) of your existing pipe. PVC drain pipe sizing is typically nominal — for example, a 50mm coupling fits pipe with an OD of approximately 50mm (≈2"), and a 110mm coupling fits standard 4" drain pipe (OD ≈ 110mm / 4.3"). When in doubt, measure twice and match the nominal size listed on your existing fittings.

These straight couplings are generally compatible with standard PVC drain, waste, and vent (DWV) pipe in metric sizes. They are typically suited for pipes conforming to EN 1329 or equivalent metric DWV standards. Contact us to confirm compatibility with your specific pipe standard.

A properly made solvent-weld joint is generally stronger than the pipe itself. The solvent cement chemically fuses the fitting and pipe into a single continuous piece, creating a joint that typically withstands the full pressure rating of the pipe — in most DWV applications, well above the pressures encountered in gravity drain systems.

PVC is generally resistant to moisture and soil chemicals, making it suitable for underground drain applications in most cases. For above-ground outdoor use exposed to direct UV sunlight over long periods, painting or shielding the fitting is typically recommended to prevent UV degradation over time.

Use a PVC solvent cement rated for DWV or drain applications. Always apply a PVC primer first to clean and soften the pipe surface before applying cement. Follow the cement manufacturer's cure time instructions — typically 15 minutes before handling and 24 hours before full flow.

A single straight coupling is generally sufficient to join two pipe ends or repair a cut section when used with a short pipe sleeve. For larger projects — such as replacing a drain run or stocking a maintenance kit — the 10-pack or 20-pack options offer a lower per-unit cost.

Standard PVC is typically rated for continuous service up to around 140°F (60°C). For drain lines carrying intermittent hot water — such as from dishwashers or washing machines — PVC DWV fittings are generally acceptable. For continuous high-temperature applications, CPVC fittings are typically recommended instead.
