Assembly is straightforward with the included manual and hardware. You'll need a Phillips screwdriver (not included). Most people complete assembly in 45–60 minutes with two people — the trellis sections are easier to hold with an extra set of hands. All pieces are pre-cut and labeled.

The planter is made from natural fir wood with a protective varnish that resists moisture and UV damage. However, for maximum longevity, we recommend applying an outdoor wood sealant or stain every 1-2 years, especially in wet or humid climates. The four drainage holes also help prevent standing water that could accelerate rot.

The trellis has a weight capacity of 22 lbs. This is plenty for climbing plants, a few small hanging baskets, or decorative lights. Avoid hanging heavy ceramic pots or multiple large baskets from the top bar. Distribute weight evenly across the trellis for best stability.

Absolutely — the 17.3" depth makes it suitable for balconies, patios, and decks. Just ensure your surface can support the combined weight of soil, water, and plants (approx. 120–180 lbs when fully loaded). For high-wind balconies, we recommend securing the planter to a wall or railing (hardware not included).

Simply rinse with a garden hose to remove dirt. For deeper cleaning, use a soft brush and mild soap. To preserve the natural wood color, apply an exterior wood stain or sealant annually. The varnish provides a good starting point, but annual maintenance extends the life significantly.
