Description

🔩 M5 & M6 Truss Head Machine Screws – A2 Stainless Steel, Phillips/Pozidriv, Fully Threaded

You’re fastening a plastic panel, assembling a piece of outdoor furniture, or installing a sign where a larger bearing surface is needed to prevent pull‑through. These M5 and M6 truss head screws feature a wide, low‑profile head that spreads clamping force over a larger area – much more than a standard pan head. Made from A2 stainless steel (304), they resist rust in outdoor, humid, and coastal environments. The cross recess works with both Phillips and Pozidriv drivers, giving you a secure grip. Fully threaded, with length measured under the head. Available in M5 and M6 diameters with multiple lengths. Ideal for boat fittings, plastic enclosures, machinery guards, and any application where a wide, non‑snagging head is needed.

✨ Key Features – Truss Head Phillips/Pozidriv Screws (A2 Stainless)

  • 🔘 Truss head design – Extra‑wide, low‑profile head provides a large bearing surface. Prevents pull‑through in soft materials like plastic, wood, and thin sheet metal.
  • 📏
Phillips / Pozidriv compatible recess – Works with both standard Phillips and Pozidriv drivers. Reduced cam‑out with Pozidriv bits.
  • 🛡️ A2 stainless steel (304) – Excellent corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance, and durability. Won’t rust like carbon steel.
  • 📏 M5 and M6 metric threads – Popular medium sizes for general assembly, marine hardware, and machinery.
  • 📐 Fully threaded, length under head – Example: M5 x 8mm means thread diameter 5mm, length from under head to tip is 8mm. Fully threaded for maximum grip.
  • 💪 High strength & toughness – A2 stainless offers good tensile strength (A2‑70) and impact resistance.
  • 🔧 Widely used – Boat fittings, plastic enclosures, electronic housings, signage, machinery guards, and outdoor furniture.

📋 Why Choose Truss Head Screws?

Feature Benefit
Wide head diameter Up to 40% wider than a standard pan head of the same thread size. Distributés clamping force over a larger area – ideal for oversized holes or soft materials.
Low profile The head is flatter than a pan head, reducing snag risk and giving a cleaner appearance.
A2 stainless Corrosion resistant – perfect for outdoor, marine, and food equipment applications.
Fully threaded Maximum thread engagement – no unthreaded shank, even on longer screws.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions – Truss Head Screws

1. What’s the difference between a truss head and a pan head?

A truss head has a much wider, flatter profile than a pan head. It distributes clamping pressure over a larger area, making it ideal for soft materials (plastic, fiberglass, thin sheet metal) or oversized clearance holes. It also has a lower profile, so it protrudes less.

2. How do I measure the length of a truss head screw?

For truss head screws, length is measured from the underside of the head (the bearing surface) to the tip. The head itself is NOT included. So an “M5 x 10mm” screw has a 10mm long threaded shaft under the head.

3. Are these screws fully threaded?

Yes – all M5 and M6 screws in this range are fully threaded from under the head to the tip, giving you maximum grip even in shallow holes or when using nuts.

4. Can I use a Phillips driver on these screws, or do I need Pozidriv?

The recess is designed to work with both. A standard Phillips driver will work, but for best torque transfer and reduced cam‑out, we recommend using a Pozidriv (Pozi) bit if available. The fit is tighter with a Pozi bit.

5. Will these screws rust? Can I use them in saltwater?

A2 stainless (304) is highly corrosion‑resistant and suitable for most outdoor, coastal, and freshwater marine applications. For continuous saltwater immersion (e.g., underwater fittings), we recommend A4 (316) stainless. For above‑water boat hardware, deck fittings, and outdoor furniture, A2 is excellent.

6. Can I use these screws with a nut? What size nut fits?

Yes – these are machine screws. Use standard metric nuts: M5 nut (0.8mm pitch) or M6 nut (1.0mm pitch). They will also thread into pre‑tapped holes of the same size. They are not self‑tapping; for wood or plastic, drill a pilot hole and use a nut or threaded insert.
