1. How do I measure the length of these round pan head screws?
For pan head screws, length is measured from the underside of the head (the flat bearing surface) to the tip. The head itself is NOT included. So an “M5 x 10mm” screw has a 10mm long threaded shaft under the head. All our lengths follow this standard.
2. Are these screws fully threaded? What about longer lengths like 60mm?
Yes – all M5, M6, and M8 screws in this range (up to 60mm) are fully threaded from under the head to the tip. This gives you maximum grip in blind holes or when using nuts.
3. Are nylon screws strong enough for structural applications?
Nylon screws have about 1/5 to 1/3 the tensile strength of steel. They are perfect for lightweight assemblies, electrical insulation, corrosion‑prone environments, and vibration‑damping. For heavy load‑bearing (e.g., a 50kg shelf), use metal. For PCB mounting, plastic enclosures, or battery terminals, nylon is ideal.
4. Can I use these screws outdoors? Will they yellow or become brittle?
White nylon is UV‑sensitive. For continuous outdoor sunlight exposure (months or years), the material may become brittle and discolor (yellowing). We recommend using them in shaded or indoor applications. For full outdoor use, consider black nylon (which has added UV stabilizers) or stainless steel.
5. Can I use a power drill to drive these screws?
Yes – but use a very low‑clutch setting (1–2) and low speed. Nylon threads can strip if over‑torqued. Hand tightening is recommended for final seating. The Phillips drive will slip before the screw breaks, but caution is advised.
