While it comes with a yellow finish, we recommend applying a water-repellent sealant or wood preservative once a year to enhance longevity and maintain its warm color. For heavier, woody vines, ensure the arbor is anchored securely (anchoring stakes not included, but we recommend ground anchors for extra stability). For best stability, especially in windy areas, we recommend anchoring the legs. The base of each post has pre-drilled holes (or you can use brackets) to attach to ground stakes or concrete anchors (not included). Many gardeners also set the posts in planter boxes or use decorative metal post anchors. The structure is freestanding but anchoring greatly improves wind resistance.
