Build an Easy DIY Automatic Plant Drip Irrigator

Step 1: Drill the Cap & Insert Swab

Drill a small hole directly through the center of the plastic bottle cap. Snip off one end of a cotton swab, then firmly press the cotton tip into the hole from the outside. The cotton acts as a perfect natural wicking regulator for slow water flow.

Step 2: Attach Support Stakes

Place two long wooden sticks vertically on opposite sides of the bottle body. Wrap clear tape tightly around the bottle and sticks to secure them. These stakes will stabilize the bottle when inserted upside down into plant soil.

Step 3: Fill, Invert, and Hydrate

Fill the bottle with fresh water and screw the modified cap back on tightly. Invert the bottle and insert the wooden stakes into the soil of your potted plant. The cotton swab will steadily release slow drops to keep your plant hydrated automatically!
