Easy Steps to Create a Leak-Proof Jug Seal
Step 1: Wrap the Spout with Thread Seal Tape
Clean the neck of your plastic jug. Firmly wrap thread seal tape (Teflon tape) around the spout opening multiple times to create a thick, grippy base layer.
Step 2: Fit the Plastic Bottle Neck
Cut off the top neck section of a clear plastic bottle (including the threads and screw cap). Place it over the tape-wrapped spout so it fits snugly over the container opening.
Step 3: Heat-Shrink to Form a Tight Lock
Using a heat gun on medium heat, evenly apply heat around the bottle neck. As the plastic shrinks under the heat, it will form-fit tightly around the jug's spout for a durable seal.
Step 4: Screw the Cap and Test
Tighten the screw cap onto your new custom spout. Tilt or flip the jug to double-check that no fluid or air escapes.
