Master the Professional Wire T-Splice Technique

Step 1: Strip the Insulation

Use a wire stripper to expose about 1 inch of bare copper core in the middle of the main wire. Strip around 1.5 inches of insulation off the end of the branch wire.

Step 2: Insert and Wrap

Place the copper core of the branch wire at the end of the exposed main copper wire section. Wrap it tightly one full loop to the right to lock it in place, then wrap it tightly in a continuous spiral to the left along the main wire, ensuring all strands lie smooth and flush.

Step 3: Insulate and Protect

Slide a piece of heat shrink tubing over the joint (or wrap tightly with electrical tape). Apply heat evenly with a heat gun until fully sealed for a clean, reliable, high-tension finish.

Safety starts with great connections! Grab a couple of spare wires from your workbench and practice this simple technique today to level up your next DIY project!
